5 Wash High Students Competed in the 2022 Washington County Envirothon
5 freshmen students competed together in the 2022 Washington County Envirothon. The students went through 5 different stations answering questions on the topics at each station. Wildlife, Soil, Aquatics, Forestry and a current event, this year was recycling.

NHS Induction Ceremony at Wash High
Washington High School's induction into the National Honor Society was done a bit differently this year. The current members of the National Honor Society conducted the ceremony this past Thursday, March 24, 2022 in the Washington High School cafeteria for the new members.

Student Council Members Recognized for Service
Wash High seniors recognized as Student Scholar Leaders were Angie Batson and Kelly Pawuk. They have both served on the student council and student forum for multiple years of high school. Angie and Kelly are photographed with Student Forum Coordinator, Ms. Sarah Durzo from the IU1. Wash High Junior Eden Day was elected to serve as a Student Forum Officer for the IU1 for the 2022-2023 School Year. The student forum services all student councils in Washington and Fayette County. Eden is photographed here with fellow officers from Jefferson Morgan and Mapletown.

Roberts Gets Soccer Scholarship from Westminster
Conner Roberts will continue his love of soccer with a partial scholarship to Westminster College where he'll play soccer for the Titans.

Carter-Green will Wrestle for Pitt-Bradford
Senior Cam Carter-Green received a partial scholarship to Pitt-Bradford for wrestling which was presented at a signing with his wrestling coaches at the high school.

High School Students Learn about Possible Careers
The first Career Pathways Speaker event was held Feb. 25, 2022 at the high school for students in grades 9-11. Speakers from 7 different industries came in to discuss their career paths with the students and brought knowledge about their professions, including a general overview of such things as educational requirements, salary, job growth, and career advancement.

Freshman Wins a Special Prize for Outdoor Activities' Essay
Michael Nixon is a 15 -year-old Wash High freshman who enjoys the outdoors and outdoor activities like fishing and hunting. However, living in the city, he isn’t able to enjoy those outdoor activities like he does when visiting some cousins and friends that live in more rural areas of the county.

The Common Ground Teen Center, 92 N. Main St., Washington, held their 12th Annual Black History Month Showcase on Thursday, March 3rd. Four Washington High School seniors were recognized for their essay submissions to the Teen Outreach Black History Month Essay Contest.

PMEA District Chorus
Music teacher and Choral Director Patrick McGill accompanied senior Rose Strickler to the PMEA District Chorus in Pittsburgh the week-end of February 11 for the District Competition.

The Chick-Fil-A Cow recently visited the junior/senior high and brought breakfast for the staff and administrators.

Senior Chorus Member Chosen for District Chorus
Senior Rose Strickler was the only student selected from Washington High School to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District Chorus this year. Strickler, who sings second soprano, will join other students from throughout the area in the District Chorus performance on February 11th at 7 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Shrine Center in Cheswick, PA.

Senior Wrestler Ewing Receives Scholarship to SHU
The Wash High Athletic Department announced on February 1, 2022 that senior wrestler Michael Ewing will be continuing his wrestling career at Seton Hill University. Mikey has participated in various activities and contributed to multiple athletic teams at Washington High School, including cross country, soccer, and track while maintaining a 3.14 GPA. In addition to his athletic prowess, Mikey has been involved in marching band and served as drum major his senior year.
